Frequently Asked Questions

who can join wmwga?

WMWGA is open to all women over 18.  You must be a registered member to golf in any event.

What are the benefits of joining WMWGA?

Joining WMWGA is a great way to connect and network with other women while also improving your golf game. We offer affordable events held at a variety of West Michigan golf courses.

Is there a membership Fee?

A $20 membership fee is required to compete in WMWGA sponsored events. The fee supplements
some tournament prizes and is used for overhead and administrative costs.

Do I need a handicap to join?

WMWGA uses GAM (Golf Association of Michigan) and the online handicapping called GHIN. This allows us to group/flight golfers with similar skill levels to ensure events are consistent, fair, competitive and fun.

How do I join GAM to get a GHIN handicap?

Some golf clubs/courses can sign you up – see your pro. You will need to list a home course to enroll. Cost is $41 for a 365-day membership. Once signed up, you will receive an email with your login and password.
Download the GHIN app from the AppStore to your phone and log in.

How do I record rounds of golf to establish a handicap on GHIN?

To establish a handicap, you need to post three 18-hole scores (or six 9-hole scores). Post all rounds of golf, the good and the bad. Locate the course you played and the tees. Enter scores hole-by-hole for the best reflection of your abilities.

GHIN updates daily.

How much does a tournament cost?

Tournament fees are determined by each course and are dependent on their fees for golf, cart, and food. Another factor is the number of golfers. Many courses require a minimum number of golfers. Typically, our tournament fees range between $75-$100

What is included in my fee for a tournament?

Green fees, cart fees, any meals/snacks, and prize pay-outs

How do I sign up my course/club to host a tournament?

Our events are successful because of the team putting on the event. Hosting a tournament is a great way to showcase your golf course, and to create revenue for the pro shop and clubhouse. With the help of your golf professional, it takes only a small group of volunteers to run an event.
